Short of cash? Can't get a credit card? Can't get a bank loan?
If you believe the ads from a new breed of short-term lenders you simply head for your local payday lender, or even the internet, to borrow the cash you need quickly.
That is the claim, but a growing number of people are finding that they really don't know what they are signing up for - or the massive rates of interest being charged.
Many payday lending customers end up getting trapped in a debt cycle, taking out another loan to pay off the first loan.
RLC regularly encounters payday lenders writing loans for vulnerable people who are homeless, reliant on Centrelink income or who have cognitive impairments or mental illness.
In this webinar RLC’s Credit and Debt Solicitor Will Dwyer explains how you can assist clients who are struggling with these predatory loans.
