How we work

Supported by our pro bono partners and funding partners, RLC works to make positive changes to law and the legal system, in specialised areas of law.  RLC's law reform work is directly informed by our clients’ experience.

Our casework helps us identify and address systemic legal issues and drive law reform through innovative service design, outreach, and community legal education. We have more than 45 years’ experience in designing, staffing and running specialised legal advice clinics.

Ten per cent of our staff are First Nations people. This includes our dedicated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Access worker, who ensures that RLC's services are welcoming and culturally safe.

Our theory of change

Our volunteer program engages over 300 active volunteers and pro bono solicitors who work year-round supporting staff in the provision of expert legal advice to assist people in crisis.

RLC maximises our impact through corporate, philanthropic and pro bono partnerships. Generous donations from the community enable us to maintain and scale up our free legal services, and law reform work. You can become part of our story by volunteering your time or donating to Redfern Legal Centre.
