RLC has launched a new employment law comic series, providing legal tips for workers affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
The first two editions of Employment Advice Woman dealt with what to do if you've been stood down from your job, or had your hours or pay reduced.
Subsequent editions look at issues including superannuation, negotiating with your employer about wage cuts, leave entitlements, and support for temporary migrants.
"Many of our clients who have been dismissed or stood down during COVID are already telling us that they don’t know how they are going to pay the rent or feed their families," RLC employment solicitor Sharmilla Bargon said.
"It is important for workers to know what options and help is available."
RLC is providing assistance, both through its International Student Legal Service NSW, funded by Study NSW and Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO), and its Employment Law Service, funded through FWO.
Free statewide support is also available through the Employment Rights Legal Service a joint initiative between Inner City Legal Centre, Kingsford Legal Centre and Redfern Legal Centre, and funded by NSW Government.
If you live in the Redfern area or surrounding suburbs, contact RLC here.
Employment Rights Legal Service (ERLS) provides free and confidential legal help to migrants and other vulnerable workers across NSW. Fill in our online enquiry form or phone 02 8004 3270 to book advice with one of our solicitors.
