Current student visas prevent international students from working more than 40-hours-per fortnight while studying. RLC argues that this makes student workers vulnerable to exploitation. We have submitted a proposal to the Migrant Workers' Taskforce calling for an amendment to section 499 of the Migration Act, instructing decision makers not to cancel a visa in certain circumstances where a student has breached the 40-hour-per-fortnight condition.
