Anti-discrimination law available in NSW doesn't provide a remedy for discrimination on the basis of religion. Being Muslim doesn't meet the definition of race for the purposes of race discrimination.
"There have been much discussion over the years that this leaves significant gaps in protection of minorities in the community, more recently in the context of hate speech. This is an example of the urgent need for law reform in this area.
