There are many people in the local population who have a disability, are aging, having children in prams or use shopping trolleys and do not have or cannot afford private vehicles. This station is closest to Sydney University and its daily comings and goings of thousands of students. In addition, the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence, the Eora Campus of TAFE and other educational institutions are in the area. The Sydney Metropolitan Development Authority aims 'to drive housing and employment opportunities in specific areas serviced by public transport and infrastructure and build economies of urban centres ... (and) ... will focus on areas that were administered by the Redfern-Waterloo authority'. That translates as a significant increase in population density. So why does Redfern Railway Station remain inaccessible?
