RLC in the Media: 10 Laws that need to change in 2015 - Consorting and organised crime

The new consorting provisions, introduced into the Crimes Act in 2012, allow police to label otherwise lawful associations a crime and to prosecute on that simple basis. The consorting provisions lack appropriate definitions, restrictions, and standards.

Ombudsman Report on NSW Police use of Section 9 Highlights Effects on the Vulnerable

The NSW Ombudsman released a report in August 2014, on the effect of expanded police powers introduced in 2011 to assist police responses to alcohol-fuelled violence, predominantly intended for behaviour in entertainment districts at night.
