On 22 November, RLC's financial abuse team leader appeared on a panel alongside other subject matter experts to discuss responses to financial abuse.
This event was organised by Centre for Women’s Economic Safety, who is also coordinating Australias inaugural Economic Abuse Awareness Day.
Economic abuse, like other forms of coercive control, can look quite different from person to person as individual, social and cultural meanings change the context of money and relationships. Understanding these differences is key to designing flexible responses to economic abuse that can support the needs of diverse range of victim-survivors.
This session unpacked some of these differences and shared some of Australia’s most promising responses to economic abuse.
