CLC Volunteer Solicitor Training
Over the coming months, a series of free training sessions are being held for volunteer solicitors at Kingsford, Inner City, Redfern and Marrickville Legal Centres.
The first session, delivered by Kingsford Legal Centre on 10 May, will focus on giving advice about minor criminal and traffic offences in the Local Court and preparing clients for court appearances. This session will also explain the role of the Legal Aid duty lawyer.
This session will be held at King & Wood Mallesons (Level 61, Governor Phillip Tower, 1 Farrar Place, Sydney). Bookings for this session are almost full. Register here.
Registration and dates for upcoming sessions are still to be advised, but sessions will cover the following topics:
July (date TBA) – Consumer Law and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal
Facilitated by Redfern Legal Centre, this session will cover the general and specific protections of the Australian Consumer Law and the conduct of consumer matters in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
September (date TBA) – Motor vehicle accidents: property damage and personal injury
Marrickville Legal Centre will provide an overview of the law relating to motor vehicle accidents focusing on claims relating to property damage, and train solicitors on advising clients about this issues.
Monday 5 November – Fines
Inner City Legal Centre will deliver a session on giving advice to clients who seek leniency with Revenue NSW or to challenge fines through the court process.
