RLC welcomes the opportunity to make a submission in response to the Legislative Assembly Inquiry conducted by the Public Accounts Committee into Tenancy Management arrangements in NSW Social Housing.

In this submission, we emphasise the prevalence of pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, provide some case examples, and discuss parental leave.

Terence is a Housing NSW tenant who had been living in a property riddled with mould and damp for years.

RLC addresses in its submission the following topics: anti-discrimination law; general protections provisions of the FW Act; employment law; and particular disability communities.

It is our position that a statutory cause of action for serious invasions of privacy is a necessary and overdue legislative reform that enhances and protects an individual's right to privacy in the 21st century.

Redfern Legal Centre has a long history of providing legal services to members of the local community who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, or have a culturally and linguistically diverse background.

Our submission is grounded in our experience with tenants in the Sydney area, and will focus primarily on the impact that current and proposed HNSW and LAHC policies have, and could have on socially disadvantaged tenants.

In this submission, we describe the prevalence and the impact of racial vilification, using a number of case examples. We recommend the retention of the existing s 18C.
