On 16 December 2011 Phoenix van Dyke from our Inner Sydney Tenants Advice and Advocacy Service and Natalie Ross from our general legal service appeared before the Standing Committee on Law and Justice to give evidence for the Inquiry.

In this submission we argued that the introduction of laws to cover people that fall outside of the Residential Tenancy Act 2012 (NSW), while benefiting many residents on NSW, would be of great benefit to international students.

RLC has a priority access policy for ATSI clients. In 2010, we provided legal services to some 3000 individuals from Redfern and surrounding areas, approximately 200 of whom identified as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

The overarching recommendation of this submission was that the government reconsider its methodological approach to the baseline study.

Our submission argued that the standards are not meeting their aims and have not had a significant impact on access to education for students with disability.

This is the second submission of NACLC and other CLCs in relation to the consolidation of federal discrimination legislation.

RLC has a long history of providing legal advice to our local community, with one of our key areas of advice being for public and private tenants.

This is a submission to the Australian Law Reform Commission and NSW Law Reform Commission Family Violence Inquiry by the Sydney Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS).

One of our goals at RLC is to identify the inequalities in laws, the legal system, administrative practice and society as a whole that affect RLC's clients and disadvantaged people generally, and work to remove those inequalities.

RLC's submission provides recommendations on how to prevent homelessness, based on our experience providing services targeted at assisting people who are disadvantaged in our community.
