#MeToo: Legal Responses to Sexual Harassment at Work
Kingsford Legal Centre, Redfern Legal Centre, Women’s Legal Service NSW and the National Association of Community Legal Centres have released a comprehensive report on sexual harassment in Australian workplaces.
Recent data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics indicates 1 in 2 women and 1 in 4 men experience sexual harassment during their lifetime, but barriers to reporting sexual harassment in workplaces remain, with fewer than 1 in 5 people proceeding to make a formal complaint following sexual harassment at work.
The report makes 46 recommendations to build a culture where women can access and enjoy their right to work, in safe workplaces that are free from sexual harassment.
The #MeToo: Legal Responses to Sexual Harassment at Work report has been submitted to the Australian Human Rights Commission’s National Inquiry into Sexual Harassment in Australian Workplaces.
