What is this service?
Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Scheme operates at the Downing Centre, Newtown and Waverley local courts to assist women and children victims of domestic violence to obtain effective legal protection from violence.
Sydney Women's Domestic Violence Court Assistance Service (Sydney WDVCAS) works closely with police, court staff and legal practitioners to ensure appropriate Apprehended Domestic Violence Orders (ADVOs) are made that best suit the client's situation.
Sydney WDVCAS can also assist clients to access other services (for example, services offering financial assistance and advice, housing, health and counseling services).
Sydney WDVCAS has an Aboriginal Specialist Worker and a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) Specialist Worker.
The Sydney Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service will be run by South West Sydney Legal Service from 1 November 2018.
