Other victims experience difficulty leaving abusive situations because they cannot find suitable accommodation for their pets.
Recognising this issue, the RSPCA has developed an innovative program, “Safe Beds for Pets”. The program offers temporary care for pets whose owners are seeking to escape domestic violence. The program allows victims time to secure their safety and make positive plans for the future without the added distress of worrying about their pets’ wellbeing.
