Particular groups in our community regularly interact with police on the streets, including some young people, homeless people and those from certain ethnic groups. In this seminar, we will talk about some of the “street powers” commonly used by police, such as stop and search, and move on, as well as the limits to those powers. The aim of this workshop is to help you understand a citizen's rights when dealing with police on the street.
This workshop will be valuable to NSW community workers and volunteers who work with people who often have interactions with the police on the streets.
Presenter: Sophie Parker, Solicitor, Redfern Legal Centre.
