What is this webinar about?
Fringe lenders market their products towards people who might have been knocked back by the banks because of a poor credit score, or people who just want money in a hurry with few questions asked. Unfortunately, this makes fringe lending products, such as payday loans and Buy Now Pay Later arrangements, ideal tools of financial abuse. High fees for missed payments and high interest rates can leave victim-survivors with huge debts long after the relationship ends.
This webinar will cover the obligations of fringe lenders, recent updates to the law and strategies for negotiating remedies.
Who is this webinar for: The webinar will be relevant to advocates, community workers and volunteers in services such as financial counselling, domestic violence, women's refuges and community legal centres. The information is applicable Australia-wide. The webinar focuses on financial abuse in intimate partner relationships, not elder abuse.
