Position Vacant - Solicitor | Consumer, Credit & Debt Practice
Redfern Legal Centre works to redress inequalities in the legal system that adversely and disproportionately affect vulnerable people, particularly those in the Redfern community. The Centre pursues social change and law reform to reduce these inequalities.
The Centre is seeking a part time (28 hours) Solicitor for 12 months to run the credit, debt and consumer law practice.
This position suits an enthusiastic and dynamic lawyer who enjoys working with vulnerable clients and helping to address systemic issues.
In addition to providing specialised advice and casework to clients in credit, debt and consumer law, the solicitor will also be required to identify and undertake strategic policy and law reform work, test case litigation and present community legal education sessions. The solicitor must be available to supervise one evening advice session per week (Thursdays).
Status: This is a part-time (28 hours per week), 12-month contract position commencing as soon as possible.
Salary and benefits: $82,953 - $90,610 p.a. pro rata ($66,363 – 72,488 for 4 days) depending on qualifications and experience.
Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid in addition to this and salary packaging* is available. In addition to being a flexible workplace, RLC offers a 35 hour working week and time in lieu options.
* As a Public Benevolent Institution, Redfern Legal Centre is able to offer staff generous salary packaging options. The tax savings for a staff member choosing to take full advantage of the salary packaging option mean that their take home salary may be increased by up to $6,000 per annum.
