- Salary and benefits: $90,915.85 - $110,891.28 p.a. (pro rata for part time) depending on qualifications and experience
Identified role for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander lawyers only. You will provide information, advice and casework on policing and generalist law issues including police powers, fines, discrimination, victim’s compensation, AVOs, Stolen Generations Reparations, National Redress Scheme, guardianship and government complaints. Our policing and generalist practices work primarily with First Nations clients and clients experiencing disadvantage. You will work with First Nations clients and organisations to identify issues requiring systemic change and undertake policy and law reform, and advocacy to create change.
Redfern Legal Centre is a non-profit community legal centre that promotes social justice and creates change. We provide free legal advice, legal services and education to people experiencing disadvantage in New South Wales. We drive innovation and work to address inequalities in the legal system through policy and law reform. We provide effective and integrated free legal services that are client focussed, collaborative, non-discriminatory and responsive to changing community needs - to our local community as well as state-wide. Our Police Accountability practice is a statewide practice that assists individual and drives systemic change through test cases, advocacy and law reform. Our generalist practice responds to the needs of the local community, through face-to-face appointments in relevant areas of legal need.
