Intakes

Dates: All information below is subject to change at any time, so please check back here regularly. Any details such as exact dates that are missing from the information below, are not yet known, sorry. When an intake opens for applications, we guarantee a minimum 3 week application period, and after that, applications may close without notice as soon as sufficient suitable applications are received.

Applications: Complete the online application form and attach your current resume, and statement addressing the selection criteria. Please number your responses in line with the numbered selection criteria. Applications that do not address the selection criteria will not be considered.

General Intake

 

APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED: 2021 General Intake (full day/week)

Work a full day per week for at least 6 months. 

Availability requirement (Selection Criteria 5): Available for a full day shift each week for a minimum of six months. You can miss individual weeks for eg. exams, holidays or illness, but should not have plans to miss more than three weeks in the first six months.

You need to work the same shift each week throughout the Autumn Roster (1 March to 4 June). You get to change your shift for the winter roster and again for the spring roster as your uni timetable changes.

We prefer you to work one full day, but if that is not possible, then a split shift - 2 half days - is acceptable, subject to shift availability. Shifts are generally Monday to Friday 9am-1pm and 2pm-5pm).

NOT OPENING: 2021 General Intake (half-day/week)

Work a half a day per week for at least 12 months. 

Availability requirement (Selection Criteria 5): Available for at least three half-day shifts per week (Monday to Friday 9am-1pm, or 2pm-5pm) for a minimum of twelve months. You will need to offer at least 3 possible shifts, and we will roster you on to one of those shifts.

RLC will not open this intake in the first half of 2021.

 

NOT YET OPEN: Winter 2021 Intensive Intake

Volunteers who are only available over the winter break (or UNSW Term 2) may be interested in a Winter Intensive option. Winter Intensive volunteers work for 12 full days, 9am-5pm. You work the same days each week. We can negotiate which days of the week suit you. Options are below.

Applications will open in March 2021, remain open for a minimum of 3 weeks, but after that will close as soon as sufficient suitable applications are received.

Attendance patterns:

• Four days/week for 3 weeks, or three days/week for 4 weeks, any time between 17 May and 2 July 2021. 
• Two days/week for 6 weeks, any time between 17 May - 27 August 2021. 
• One day/week for 10-12 weeks, any time between 17 May and 27 August. Especially suits UNSW students, but open to all.

 

NOT YET OPEN: Summer 2021-2022 Intensive Intake

Volunteers who are available over the 2021-2022 summer break may be interested in a Summer Intensive option. Summer Intensive volunteers work for 12 full weekdays, 9am-5pm. You work the same days each week. You can negotiate the days of the week that suit you. 

Applications will open in October 2021. All dates below are to be confirmed.

Not So Intense Summer 

Choose your intensity level:

• Four days/week for 3 weeks
• Three days/week for 4 weeks
• Two days/week for 6 weeks.

You work in the weeks of your choice. Available weeks:

• 25-29 October 2021
• 1-5 November
• 8-12 November
• 15-19 November
• 22-26 November
• 29 November - 3 December
• 6-10 December
• 13-17 December [then RLC is closed for the Christmas-New Year fortnight]
• 3-7 January
• 10-14 January 2022.
