Position Vacant: Solicitor – Police Powers Practice

Redfern Legal Centre is seeking a full-time solicitor to lead NSW’s only dedicated free legal police powers practice. This is a 12-month, full-time maternity leave position. 

Redfern Legal Centre works to identify inequalities in the legal system and society generally, that adversely and disproportionately affect low income and disadvantaged people. The Centre works for social and legal change to remove those inequalities. 

Redfern Legal Centre is seeking a full-time solicitor to lead NSW’s only dedicated free legal police powers practice for a 12-month period.

The successful applicant will be eligible to hold a NSW practising certificate and have at least 12 months experience advising clients and/or conducting casework in criminal law, administrative law or civil litigation.

Experience in running test cases and/or organising campaigns and activities aimed at achieving law reform and effective media work would be an advantage.  

Status: This is a 12-month, full-time maternity leave position. We require the successful applicant to be available to work from the week of 23 July 2018.

Salary and benefits: $78,654 - $85,914 depending on qualifications and experience. 

Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid in addition to this and salary packaging* is available. In addition to being a flexible workplace, RLC offers a 35-hour working week, time in lieu options and 6 weeks annual leave.
