Position Vacant: Aboriginal Legal Access Worker

An exciting opportunity exists to help Redfern Legal Centre continue to build meaningful and trusted connections between our legal services and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.  This position is now closeed.

The primary role of this worker is to help build meaningful and trusted connections between the Centre’s legal services and local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. This includes supporting Aboriginal clients with non-legal assistance and facilitating referrals to non-legal services; networking and building strong partnerships with Sydney Local Area Health District Organisations, interagencies and local organisations; contributing to the policy and law reform work of the Centre; and supporting the Centre to provide a culturally appropriate environment and service. Status: This is a permanent part time (21 hours per week) position. 

Salary and benefits: $77,308 - $82,258 p.a. ($46,385 - $49,355 for 21 hours per week) depending on qualifications and years of similar experience.

Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid in addition to the quoted salary and salary packaging* is available. In addition to being a flexible workplace, RLC offers a 35-hour working week, time in lieu options and a paid Christmas closure of 2 weeks (including public holidays) on top of 4 weeks annual leave and specific leave entitlements for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander significant cultural and ceremonial activities.

* As a Public Benevolent Institution, Redfern Legal Centre is able to offer staff generous salary packaging options. The tax savings for a staff member choosing to take full advantage of the salary packaging option mean that their take home salary may be increased by up to $6,000 per annum​​.
