We are Recruiting for two Solicitor Positions

We are recruiting for two solicitors. A full-time permanent employment solicitor and a 6 month part-time generalist / discrimination law solicitor. Applications are now closed.   

Solicitor - Employment Law
This position suits an enthusiastic and dynamic lawyer who enjoys working with vulnerable clients and helping to address systemic issues. This position will focus on employment law issues for local residents as well as international students across NSW. It will also run a weekly student clinic giving university students practical experience in how the law affects vulnerable people.

In addition to providing specialised advice to clients in employment law, the solicitor will also be required to identify and undertake strategic policy and law reform work, test case litigation and present community legal education sessions.  The solicitor must be available to supervise one evening advice session per week (Tuesdays). 

Status: This is a permanent position. It is full time (35 hours) but a part time position (at least 28 hours) will be considered for the right applicant.

Salary and benefits: $77,263 - $84,394 p.a. depending on qualifications and experience. 

Superannuation and annual leave loading is paid in addition to this and salary packaging* is available. In addition to being a flexible workplace, RLC offers a 35 hour working week, time in lieu options and a paid Christmas closure of 2 weeks (including public holidays) on top of 4 weeks annual leave.

* As a Public Benevolent Institution, Redfern Legal Centre is able to offer staff generous salary packaging options. The tax savings for a staff member choosing to take full advantage of the salary packaging option mean that their take home salary may be increased by up to $6,000 per annum​​.

Solicitor - General Practice & Discrimination Law

This position suits an enthusiastic and dynamic lawyer who enjoys working with vulnerable clients and helping to address systemic issues. This position will focus on discrimination law issues as well as assisting vulnerable clients with issues that fall outside of the practice areas that RLC focuses on (RLC practice areas are discrimination, credit & debt, police powers, employment law, tenancy, domestic violence, care & protection and family law). 

In addition to providing advice, the solicitor will also be required to identify and undertake strategic policy and law reform work, test case litigation and present community legal education sessions. 

Status: This is a fixed term position for 6 months. It is part time (21 hours).

Salary and benefits: $77,263 - $84,394 p.a. ($46,357 - $50,636 pro rata) depending on qualifications and experience.
